How to create an invoice for your Malaysian business (free)
A simple guide to invoicing for Malaysian SMEs — what to include, how to handle SST, and a free invoice generator with RM currency and your logo.
A clear, professional invoice gets you paid faster and keeps your records clean. Here's what a Malaysian small-business invoice should contain and how to create one for free.
What to include on an invoice
- Your business details — name, address, and registration number (and SST number if you're registered).
- The customer's details and the invoice date.
- A unique invoice number for your records.
- Line items — description, quantity, unit price and amount for each.
- Subtotal, any tax, and the total in Ringgit (RM).
- Payment terms — due date and how to pay (bank details).
Handling SST
If your business is SST-registered, you'll show the applicable service or sales tax on the invoice. Rates and the registration threshold are set by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and do change — confirm the current rate before invoicing, and use the SST calculator to work out the amounts.
Create one in minutes
- Open the Invoice generator.
- Fill in your business and customer details.
- Add your line items — the totals calculate automatically as you type.
- Add your logo and pick a template, then download a clean PDF.
